Pretty good sushi with great service.
I took my mom for the lunch special on a Friday and there was a steady flow of customers the entire time but the place was never too packed. The price of the lunch special is great !!! Either two rolls or the sushi/sashimi combo for $13 each.
Miso soup was on the better end of average. Ginger house salad was average with very thick and chunky dressing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 20, 2020Updated review
Warning***My family was kicked out of this establishment.
We decided to dine in at Yokohama, this is a sushi place that we have been dining with for many years (I would say at least 15 years). We are aware that Yokohama has been through many new owners recently and we wanted to give it another shot.
After we received our drinks and edemame we put in for a family sushi plate, we asked to have the imitation crab switched for real crab (we also asked how much it would cost). When the lady returned she said it will cost $6 and we have her the okay. The server returned again (after a while) and said that it was only for to-go orders. We were already tired of dealing with this back and forth over an appetizer and we told her just to put it to-go and we will eat it tomorrow. She brought us the ticket for it and was trying to charge us an extra $6 for ea for each roll.
We ordered the party tray for the California rolls which was $49.99. We didn't see that it was to-go only and the server did not clarify that with us until we were 20 min. In to our dinning experience. She then tried to charge us $100 for California rolls.
This could all have been avoided if the server would have stated in the first place that this tray was not for dine in and that the $6 fee for the real crab was going to be a $45 fee.
Their lack of communication, knowledge of menu and behavior has cost them multiple customers, not to mention they kicked my family out of the restaurant. There were 7 in my party as well as an infant. Shame on them!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Apr 10, 2015Previous reviewWhy isn't there 6 stars? Best sushi in Dallas. Great service friendly customers. Great prices and they are not stingy with their food. Always give us free appetizer and chef specials.

We did AYCE option for dinner. Didn't disappoint. They have plenty of options from the sushi bar and appetizers. I think the only thing they can improve on is if they added more kitchen items such as baked mussels or some more tempuras. Overall everything is very good, and service is pretty fast even during busy hours.
Again, this place would be a 5 star if they added more kitchen items and desserts to their AYCE menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Linda K.Plano, TX050Oct 2, 2022
Fresh sushi and rolls done right! We got the lunch special on a Saturday which is unusual. I got the avocado roll and a fried tempura roll. The tempura roll is light yet crunchy. My friend had a roll wrapped in rice paper. We didn't leave a crumb on the table. The owner/manager checked on us several times and water and tea were refilled a few times. This gem is tucked in a small shopping center along with a well known French restaurant. We will be back!

Honestly some of the best all you can eat sushi in DFW. The fish is super fresh and the rice is somehow really good as well? I don't know how to describe it but it fit really well with the sushi. The rolls were huge and it really made me regret getting all you can eat. I wish I had a bigger stomach!

Expectations from 4.5 stars on Yelp didn't match with reality here. Stopped in for Friday night dinner and the place was promisingly packed. Unfortunately, we had a rough start since it took 15min to order after multiple attempts to flag down different servers, who either flat-out ignored us or rushed by saying they'd be back. The service itself left something to be desired; maybe it was an off night, but none of our servers made eye contact or acted like they wanted to be there. I don't expect 5 star service from a strip mall restaurant, but it was the frostiest reception I've come across in a while.
The food saved them a star, since the fish quality was great for the price. The yellowtail collar was by far our favorite, tender and fatty with a pretty decent portion size for an appetizer. Super rainbow roll and sushi omakase (only $20?!) were up to par as well. Downsides: miso was diluted and flavorless, but it's free so whatever. And for the love of God, don't order the house pom wine - not sure what we were expecting for $3, but it'd be better spent on Franzia. It tasted like straight sugar water and we passed on it after two sips (the second just to confirm). My post-Japan spoiled self doesn't believe in AYCE sushi, but maybe that's where they really shine here for everyone else. After today's experience, I'd probably only come back for the location convenience and budget omakase.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 20, 2018
i went with a friend for lunch on the weekend and was surprised to see that they have lunch specials on the weekend too! they offer a free regular roll with an order of a special roll. my friend and i ordered 2 special rolls and had 2 regular rolls which was more than enough.
i like that they have many options that are wrapped in soy paper or cucumber instead of seaweed. which give the rolls a lighter more refreshing taste. they also have a selection of no rice rolls which is different. my friend and i tried a couple different rolls and shared. It was all very fresh and good. we were the only one in the restaurant since we arrived early, right as they opened. service was great and we were able to chat and catch up without being pressured to leave.
It was a great experience and i wouldn't mind coming back to try more options from their menu!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Reena D.Los Angeles, CA1406697Aug 25, 2018
Reason:
Came here to kickoff a 25th birthday party with AYCE sushi. This place was great!
Service:
The service was great, the waitress explained to our group exactly how to order off the AYCE menu. We were given 3 rounds to order and if you still wanted to order something after the 3rd round that was ok to do. With most AYCE places if you have leftover sushi you are charged for the waste, however this is only charged on your final round.
Sushi:
The sushi was fresh and enjoyable. I would recommend skipping appetizers this way you can try out the more flavorful items. Winning rolls: Golden Tiger, Banana Roll (savory and sweet, just try it!), Pink Lady, Baked Lobster Roll and the Giant Roll.
Price:
$28.99 per person
18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more
